    Hip Hop Dance is a style of movement characterized by bounces and rocks, executed to Hip Hop music. It has deep historical and social roots in African American culture, having emerged in Black communities living in 1970s New York.

  • Locking

    Locking is a style of funk dance. The name is based on the concept of locking movements, which means freezing from a fast movement and "locking" in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing at the same speed as before.

  • POPPING

    Popping is a style of hip-hop or funk dancing. It is also known as Electric Boogie. Poppers achieve the dance style’s jerky or twitchy movements by continuously and rhythmically tensing and then relaxing muscles in the arms and legs. Popping is a street dance adapted out of the earlier Boogaloo cultural movement in Oakland, California.

  • HOUSE

    House Dance is a style of dance that originated in the late 70’s and early 80’s from underground clubs in Chicago and New York. The style was influenced by several types of movement, including Tap, African dance, Latin dance, and martial arts. House Dance is about freedom, improvisation, and feeling the music.

  • WAACKING

    Waacking (also whacking) is a street dance style with origins stemming from punking, a dance created in the gay clubs of Los Angeles during the 1970s disco era. The style is typically done to 1970s disco and 1980s post-disco music and is mainly distinguishable by its rotational arm movements, posing and emphasis on expressiveness.

    Breaking, also known as breakdance, is a dynamic and acrobatic street dance performed by individuals known as b-boys and b-girls. It is one of the four elements of hip-hop culture, along with DJ’ing, MC’ing/rapping, and graffiti1. Breaking incorporates coordination, intricate body movements, style, and aesthetics, and evolved from the hip-hop movement during the early 1970s

  • TAP

    Tap dance, style of dance in which a dancer wearing shoes fitted with heel and toe taps sounds out audible beats by rhythmically striking the floor or any other hard surface. Tap’s origins come fromhe Juba dance or hambone, originally known as Pattin' Juba (Giouba, Haiti: Djouba), is an African-American style of dance that involves stomping as well as slapping and patting the arms, legs, chest, and cheeks (clapping). "Pattin' Juba" would be used to keep time for other dances during a walkaround.
